"I didn’t realise how much my nose affected my sleep"

"I didn’t realise how much my nose affected my sleep"

We hear this line a lot from our community.

Most people blame screens, stress, or late-night coffee for poor sleep but your nose could be playing a bigger role than you think.

Why?
Dry air, nasal congestion, or habitual mouth breathing can subtly disrupt the flow of oxygen overnight. On hot Australian nights, with fans or air-conditioning running constantly, the nasal passages often dry out further, making it harder to breathe comfortably while you sleep. Over time, even mild disruptions can affect sleep quality, leaving you tired, irritable, or foggy in the morning without any signs of illness.

How to check:
Before reaching for another cup of coffee or sleep aid, ask yourself:
“How was I breathing overnight?”

Small changes can make a big difference:
- Stay hydrated, especially during summer heatwaves.
- Use gentle nasal support at night to keep passages clear.
- Using a nasal decongestant before sleep to assist with clearing slight nasal congestion.
- Reviewing your head sleep position.
- Using Nadu Mouth Tape to assist with gentle mouth closure and nasal breathing during sleep.
- Reduce bedroom air dryness with a humidifier or by adjusting fan/AC settings.
- Practice nasal breathing during the day, your body learns what to do at night.

Reminder: Supporting nasal comfort is not just about easing congestion, it’s a practical, proactive step toward better sleep hygiene.
