Flu Season Survival: Founder-Tested Tips

Flu Season Survival: Founder-Tested Tips

How Our Founder Survived a Week of Influenza (A or B): The Nadu Flu Plan

When the flu hits — whether it’s Influenza A or B — it can flatten even the most resilient of us. Fever, chills, body aches, congestion, brain fog… you name it. At Nadu, we live and breathe respiratory health, so when our founder was knocked out for a week, she turned it into a real-world test of everything we stand for: functional breathing, gentle skin protection, hydration, and rest (without guilt).

Here’s the exact protocol she followed.

Influenza A & B — quick symptom snapshot

Expect a mix of:

  • Sudden fever and chills
  • Muscle aches and fatigue
  • Sore throat and cough
  • Runny or blocked nose
  • Headaches (sometimes nausea)

Influenza A often drives larger outbreaks; Influenza B tends to be more localised — but both deserve proper care.

The Nadu Recovery Plan (Founder-tested)

1) Daily nasal cleansing with saline
Flushes mucus, reduces congestion, and helps clear irritants/viral particles.

2) Nadu Spritz (coming soon)
Our Refresh & Recharge Nasal Spritz is in development to soothe inflamed, dry nasal passages and support better daily breathing — especially during cold and flu season.

3) Protect your skin with Nadu Mask Soothe
Constant nose-blowing can leave skin raw. Our TGA-listed barrier cream protects the delicate area around the nose and lips.

4) Support nasal breathing with Nadu Mouth Tape
Night-time mouth breathing dries everything out. Mouth taping supports nasal breathing, improving hydration, oxygen uptake, and sleep quality.

5) Hydrate properly — Hydralyte on rotation
Fever and sweating = electrolyte loss. Hydralyte helped keep hydration and balance on track.

6) Add moisture with a humidifier
Dry air worsens congestion. A humidifier keeps nasal passages hydrated and helps thin mucus.

7) Comfort + darkness with the Nadu Silk Eye Mask
Cool, soft, and light-blocking — small comfort, big reward for rest.

8) Menthol lozenges
Cooling relief for throat irritation and a perceived improvement in airflow.

9) Sit upright in bed
Helps drainage, reduces sinus pressure and post-nasal drip.

10) Warm showers
Steam loosens mucus and soothes sore muscles.

Rituals that helped

Hydration you can feel

Hydralyte became a daily essential — particularly when water wasn’t cutting it.

Pukka herbal teas (Sleep & Liquorice favourites)

A nightly cup of Pukka Night Time (a calming blend with valerian, chamomile, lavender and licorice root) helped signal rest. Pukka Liquorice & Cinnamon made a soothing daytime option with a naturally sweet finish.

Thirlestane Farm Honey

A delicious locally produced honey from a good friend's beautiful Thirlestane Farm stay. This rich honey was a warm delight to soothe the throat and the soul! A great addition to the tea for extra nourishment.

Data for decisions: WHOOP measurements

As a daily WHOOP wearer, our founder tracked:

  • Respiratory rate
  • Heart rate variability (HRV)
  • Sleep duration & quality

The numbers guided her pace: when to fully rest, when to rehydrate, and when to try gentle movement.

Rest — without guilt (the hardest bit)

High performers, this one’s for you: rest is not indulgence — it’s strategy. Giving her body full permission to recover made all the difference.

Other honourable mentions

  • Balm-infused tissues (trust us)
  • Cooling cloths during fever
  • Herbal teas with lemon and honey
  • Simple meals: broths, congee, soft proteins
  • Low screen time, low stress, quiet recovery

When to seek medical care

If you experience shortness of breath, chest pain, persistent high fever, confusion, or dehydration, or you’re immunocompromised/pregnant/elderly, speak to your GP or seek urgent care.

Breathe well. Recover smarter.

Flu happens. But with the right tools — nasal hygiene, hydration, skin protection, and genuine rest — you can support your body through it.

Be first to try Nadu Spritz when it launches.
